It has been reported that Pope Benedict wants to have photovoltaic cells added onto the roof of his Popemobile. This is in addition to other renewable measures he has recently taken including having Solar Panels fitted onto the roof of the Vatican and solar air-conditioning installed in the cafeteria. The Pope is one of a number of different luminaries who has recently invested in renewable energy products, as Prince Charles has also done something similar at his Royal residence, Clarence House.
This demonstrates that it must be something worthwhile doing if such high profile figures are taking such action. It has been proven that solar panels, Solar Power systems and solar electricity are a more efficient way of producing hot water and electricity in buildings, whether residential or industrial. This is because they work directly from the light of the Sun, rather than rely on traditional sources of energy which are more damaging to the planet.
It has also been shown that fossil fuels are slowly starting to run out, hence why the price of energy has increased massively in recent years. Renewable energy solutions such as those mentioned above can bring around savings on energy by as much as 50%. During those times of year when we benefit from extended spells of daylight, you should be able to rely on your panels to provide you with virtually all the energy you need, making huge savings.
The initial cost of investing in a renewable energy product may on the surface seem costly. But, when you consider that once installed they will usually work effectively for around 30 years, the cost of them will seem like a drop in the ocean when you compare it to staying loyal to your boiler.
